Brisbane and Gold Coast
Swingers in Brisbane: Easy-Going Couples Up for More
Unhurried and up for it, Brisbane's swingers have the Gold Coast about an hour down the M1 when they fancy a change of scene.
Brisbane swingers, ready when you are
Find Swingers has more than 190 members across Queensland, more than 80 of them in Brisbane itself. Couples make up more than four in ten of the Queensland members, and the map runs well past the city: members live on the Gold Coast and as far north as Townsville.
Brisbane is a river city with a lot of sky and not much hurry, and its swinging crowd keeps the same pace. Nobody needs a hard sell. A friendly message, a long lunch and an honest chat about what you both want will get you further than any opening line.
From the river to the coast
A Brisbane search runs along the M1 as much as across the city. These are the distances worth knowing.
| Place | Distance | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Fortitude Valley | Inner city | Australia's most concentrated nightlife |
| Loganholme | About 30 km | The Taboo22 club, just off the M1 |
| Gold Coast | About 66 km | Just over an hour by train to Helensvale, Nerang or Robina |
| Sunshine Coast | About 100 km | North, for a weekend away |
In town, CityCat ferries on the river and a go card make the inner city easy without a car. On the coast, the G:link tram runs from Helensvale through Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach to Burleigh Heads.
Taboo22, an on-premises club in Loganholme between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, opens on Friday and Saturday nights; check its own site for current nights. Our guide to swingers clubs explains what to expect at the door.
Laid-back and in no rush
Here is Queensland, band by band:
Shares of our members across Queensland, singles and couples together, from our member records.
Nearly four in ten Queensland members are 55 or over, the oldest mix of our five Australian cities, and only one in ten is under 35. The rest split almost evenly between 35 to 44 and 45 to 54. Couples past fifty are right at home here, and younger couples should simply put their age range up front.
How to meet swingers in Brisbane
Search the corridor, not just the suburb
If you're happy to drive, set your distance wide enough to take in the M1 and you'll see Brisbane and Gold Coast members side by side. Your suggested matches take distance into account as well.
Start in daylight
Try a long lunch or an afternoon drink by the river before any late night. Howard Smith Wharves, under the Story Bridge, and the Lobby Bar at The Calile on James Street in Fortitude Valley both make conversation easy, and leaving after one just as easy.
Get checked, then get going
With a Medicare card, STI testing should be covered, according to healthdirect, which also suggests a check before you start with someone new. Our guide to a first swinger meet covers what to agree before anyone leaves the bar.
Make it a Gold Coast weekend
Around 10 million people visit the Gold Coast every year, so two couples sharing a drink in Surfers Paradise or Burleigh Heads blend right in. Rick Shores at Burleigh Heads and the lobby bar at The Langham in Surfers Paradise set the tone for a night that might run late.
Brisbane and Gold Coast, answered
Is there a swingers club near Brisbane?
Yes. Taboo22 is an on-premises club in Loganholme, about 30 km south of the CBD off the M1, open on Friday and Saturday nights. Opening nights and door rules can change, so check its own site before you go, and expect to register and bring photo ID.
Can I find swingers on the Gold Coast?
Yes. Members live on the Gold Coast as well as in Brisbane, and the two are about 66 km apart: an easy run down the M1, or a train ride of just over an hour. Widen your radius to take in both and you'll see everyone in reach of a weekend.
What age are Brisbane swingers?
A little older than in our other Australian cities. Across Queensland, 39% of members are 55 or over and only one in ten is under 35, while the 35 to 44 and 45 to 54 bands take roughly a quarter each. Younger couples are welcome too: just put your age range on your profile.
Is Fortitude Valley good for a first meet?
It can be. The Valley has the densest run of bars, pubs and clubs in Australia, which makes it lively rather than quiet. For a calmer first drink, try the Lobby Bar at The Calile on James Street, or the riverside bars at Howard Smith Wharves under the Story Bridge.
